Sakshi Nikte
About Me:
Hello! My name is Sakshi Nikte and I am a Second year, Data Science major. In my free time, I enjoy practicing calligraphy, trying new coffee places, and hanging out with my friends. In regards to academics, I am on the Sponsorship Committee of a Club called Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) which is a club dedicated to developing our technical and professional skills, and Women in Computing which is a club that supports women in technology. I am also part of the CNAS Science Ambassador Program. In this program, we act as student liaisons between the CNAS college and different communities in Riverside county. I am currently pursuing a career in Data Science, hoping to work in the technology field.
Goals and Aspirations:
As an undergrad, I strive to gain as much experience as I can through fellowship and internship opportunities. After I graduate, I plan to attend a Master’s program and gain research experience in Data Science. I would like to attend school out-of-state to know what it’s like living out of California. Ultimately, I would like to be in a happy position working as a successful Data Scientist in a beautiful city.
Extracurriculars:
CNAS Science Ambassador: In this program, we act as student liaisons between the CNAS college and different communities in Riverside county. For example, we volunteer our time to outreach programs that encourage students in the K-12 grades to pursue a career in STEM and/or a higher education, provide tours to incoming college students, and communicate our passions, interests, and knowledge to prospective students and their families.
Association for Computing Machinery at UCR: I am on the sponsorship committee of this club. We actively reached out to professors, industry experts, and employees in tech to cover various coding topics and industry skills at panels. We also negotiated a sponsorship package for companies to sponsor ACM events and career fairs to foster the growth of tech engineers on campus.
